John was always in charge of himself, regardless of what other cicumstances were controlling him. I hung with him many times during 72/74 dolls era, saw the first heartbreakers show, and by the time I fronted The Psychotic Frogs, he was already written off by many as done. He was never done, his contributions shaped the face of punk, post punk, the grunge assholes, and the third generation wannabes that populate the record racks. He contributes a vocal on 'Twist and Shout' and plays guitar on 'Boys' on 'Psychotic Frogs live at Maxs' (Jayne County and Cherry Vanilla are on the CD too).
